Hello from Russia at 12'2024
2:43 See Billie Jo Winghead, the Geek!
I can't stop watching this video, I'm 19. I wish I had lived at that time
I’m 71…Will forever love Pentangle…still listening in 2024
New Years Day here.
Not personally a fan of the woman’s voice, but Burt was phenomenal in this.
My teen hearthrob
When I retire I would buy a true able and LP of pentangle. Listening quietly while outside rain falls with willows.
Any inspiring musicican would do well to listen to this group. Each member was a remarkable talent in their own right.
This was uploaded a little over a year after UA-cam existed!
What an absolute masterpiece
Pentangle created a name, a sound, and succeeded making it entirely theirs.
Danny Thompson What a career.
Music for the soul
Well the video has been on youtube for 17 years now with 593,000 views. I wouldnt be suprised if i push it up to a million very soon.
BERT WAS DOING JACQUI BACK THEN?
🙄
For sure
@@petdoe8938 ONE NIGHTER? She looked at him different?
Very Bohemian!!
We were very lucky in them days ,so many beautiful bands and most folk clubs were free
True, one near me is 10 pounds crazy
Groovy and cool awesome ❤@@petdoe8938
bachian
No cell phones, nobody drawing attention to themselves, neither audience members nor musicians. Just the song, and respect and love for the song.
UK best in the world for music.
i love how the percussion picks up
Coolest shit ever.❤
Pure class.
Is that (the) Peter Green sitting in front of the wall, just in back of Berts right shoulder?
Marvellous!!!!!!
I remember when this band came out.
to add about danny thompson - not forgetting his work with john martyn, and even one amazing gig with tim buckley, and appearances on a zillion others' gigs/albums....what a career!
The best folk/jazz/rock outfit period
Absolute magic. RIP Renbourn and Jansch, and best wishes to McShee, Cox, and Thompson, who I believe are all still above ground.
Danny Thompson has to be the best bassist in the last 50 years
Let's get away, you say, find a better place, Miles and miles away from the city's race, Look around for someone lying in the sunshine Marking time, hear the sighs, close your eyes... Ba - da - pa do da da - ba - pa do da da... Stepping from cloud to cloud passing in their flight Visit the frosty stars in the backwash light Star becomes a vision, never mind the meaning, Hidden there, moving fast, it won't last Ba - da - pa do da da - ba - pa do da da... Time passes all too soon, how it rushes by, Now a thousand moons are about to die No time to reflect on what the time was spent on, Nothing left, far away, dreamers fade Ba - da - pa do da da - ba - pa do da da... Strange visions pass me by, winging softly thru the sky Over the water, oooohh Swirling, the waters rise up above my head. Gone are the curling mists how they all have fled. Look, the door is open, step into the space Provided there Da do da, - da, do da ....
I've noticed this was uploaded in the really brief pre-Google UA-cam times!!! Such times only lasted (with actual content on the site) from about May '05 to early Oct '06. This is a piece of YT archeology.
Tão relaxante e nostálgico aos ouvidos de uma brasileira 😊
I think everyone in that room wants to stay there forever, timeless and effortless 👌
Beautiful words and very true.
take three girls, such good memories
Some of the best music ever written.
this was just before the great civilizational collapse
So do you count this as a 6/4 (intro and breaks) with the main line being in alternating bars of 5/4 then 7/4 (or even 2 bars of 5/4 followed by a bar of 2/4) or would you count the main line as 12/4? Which would be the most eloquent?
Brilliant Jazz and the rest !
They "stole" it from Miles Davis. The original was an instrumental called ALL BLUES which appeared on the 1959 album KIND OF BLUE. Interestingly, Burt Jansch introduces his solo version - also available on UA-cam - as a song from Pentangle. Disingenuous or merely an oversight? Still an improvement on Lonnie Donegan who recorded a whole slew of Woody Guthrie's songs and claimed to have written them (the Pye 78s all had a note on the label saying "New Words & Music by Lonnie Donegan which confused the hell out of me as a kid) - all this while Guthrie was slowly dying of Huntingdon's Chorea.
Bert Jansch here somehow even sexier than Serge Gainsbourg.
das haut mich um
jansch's voice is perfect for this
saw them live. my favourite song of theirs as well along with light flight.
I love the woman's voice but I really wish that dude would shut up!
☝️😎
Absolutely superb. To the person who put this on UA-cam , thank you 😊
Still marvellous after all these years.
Absolute Cats ..
